National Centre for Hearing & Speech for Children (NCHSC)

National Centre for Hearing & Speech for Children (NCHSC) at Mohakhali, Dhaka was established and inaugurated in the year 1992, with most of the modern facilities for early detection of hearing loss, hearing aid fittings with ear moulds preparation and treatment of all types of ENT diseases in the out-patient department at a nominal registration fee of Tk.100/- per patient which is effective for 30 days, and affordable charges for hearing tests and hearing aid fitting.Poor and destitute patients are examined and tested free of cost.

A good number of SAHIC’s doctors and technicians were trained in U.K. Japan, Thailand and India to acquire better skill and knowledge in the respective field.

A Hearing test laboratory is functioning with reputation, which was equipped with all modern sophisticated instrument &equipment’s. There are 10 test rooms, where daily 100-120 tests can be performed.

There is an Ear Mould Lab at NCHSC to prepare ear mould as per individual patient requirement. Soft and Hard ear moulds are being prepared in the lab.

The Centre is affiliated to Hearing International (H.I.); International Federation of Otorhinolaryngological Society (IFOS); and International Society of Audiologists (I.S.A.) for rendering satisfactory services to the needy patients in the year 1997.The Centre is working in close cooperation with International Organizations and WHO. Many of the technical staffs and doctors were sponsored by W.H.O. to get training abroad. The Centre and the hospital were provided with all modern sophisticated equipment and instruments. The library were provided with latest books and journals.

“Hearing Aid support Cell” has started functioning from 1st September 2021 at the Out Patient Department (Ground Floor) of SAHIC for the convenience of the patients. The Cell is equipped with all the latest hearing aid gadgets available in the market at a minimum price set by the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
